I love the work of Joseph Cornell and the shadowboxes. Was it coincidence that I spent Saturday filling the empty printer's tray I had hanging on the wall of my studio with trinkets I'd unearthed in a box under the table where I paint? Assemblage was the first place I went to as a lifelong creative coming home to art-making at the RGS in 2008 when I left my job as a school teacher. I went from assemblage to collage to print-making to encaustics to mixed media to painting. In retrospect, it seems I started working in 3-D and then titrating down. Now I do a little of everything. Recently, I have come home to doodling and coloring in. What pleasure, the simplicity of making marks and coloring them in. Here is an image of my printer's tray. It's an ongoing project. It has already changed since I took this.
